Nationally acclaimed master musicians Eric & Suzy Thompson take students on an interactive musical journey showing how the rich multi-cultural heritage of American musical traditions have influenced today's popular music styles such as rock, rhythm and blues, and country. Cultures represented include African-American, Anglo-Scot-Irish, Hispanic and Cajun-Creole. Instruments demonstrated include fiddle, Cajun accordion, cuatro, mandolin, banjo, guitar, kazoo and triangle. Suzy & Eric not only sing the songs, play the tunes, and demonstrate the instruments, but they also share stories that paint a vivid picture of an earlier American lifestyle. Students participate by singing choruses, learning hand motions, and even make up a song based on a 100 year old Creole melody!
